Connecting To Chats

Now that you've learned how to get user and group IDs, it's time to start tailoring Rose's setting to your group's needs. While you can use most of Rose's commands directly in your group's chats, you may want to change her settings in a more discrete way.

Example

Your users are chatting in your group, and you want to change one of Rose settings. You don't want to interrupt the conversation by sending commands in the chat, or maybe you don't want your users to know about the change you've just made.

Thankfully, there's a better way - introducing connections!

Connections allow you to connect your private chat with Rose to your group, so you can change your settings quietly. This also avoids you filling your group chat with excessive configuration spam. As an added bonus, because the commands aren't issued in the chat, you don't need to worry about your users accidentally spamming the chat with bluetext clicks.

When you use the connection feature, you can issue all your configuration commands to Rose in a private message (PM), but she will process them and response just as if you were issuing them from inside your group.

Connecting To A Group

Connecting Rose to your group is incredibly easy! There are two ways you can do this. Try them out and see which one works best for you!

Connecting Via Private Message

To use this connection method, you'll need the Telegram ID or username of the group you wish to connect to (refer to the basic commands section to learn how to get a group ID). Once you have the group ID, open up a private conversation with Rose, and issue the following command:

/connect <group-id-here> (or, if you're using the username - /connect @<group-username-here>)

For example, if your group ID was -10043263465, then you'd type the following command in your private chat with Rose:

/connect -10043263465

Note

Remember, group IDs are always a negative number, so if you try to use an ID that's not negative, you will get an error advising you "chat not found".

Connecting From Within A Chat

To use this method, issue the below command in your group's chat:

/connect

You'll then get a reply in your group which contains a button to start a private message session with her. Clicking this button will connect your group to Rose.

Note

For convenience, if you already have a PM session with Rose, she will also reply in the PM session to bump your conversation with her to the top of your conversation list for easy access.
